New York City is at the forefront of the national revolution in career education, and its cutting-edge CTE programs hold vital lessons for CTE reformers across America. A new report coauthored by Opportunity America president Tamar Jacoby and University of Connecticut assistant professor Shaun Dougherty highlights the promise and the work still to be done in New York’s CTE schools. The report’s key recommendations: more on-the-job experience for students and new approval procedures in Albany to ensure that CTE course offerings align with the city’s changing economy.

The report was released by the Manhattan Institute. Former secretary of education Anne Duncan gave the keynote at a launch event in New York.
